Studies show working with our hands improves brain function, increases pleasure, decreases stress, enables positive thoughts, fosters communication and supports mental well-being. While participating in class the women learn a craft such as sewing. The craft projects provide a sense of accomplishment and pride.

The women make two projects - a thank you card which you see displayed and another project to take home upon release. Women experience an opportunity for self expression as they embark on a path to making healthy choices.

Our trauma informed curriculum teaches participants to recognize Post Traumatic Stress Disorder symptoms linked to their substance abuse and incarceration. Classes focus on the downward spiral of substance abuse, providing women with the tools to handle triggers and relapse threat.
